I didn’t want to reinvent the wheel.

There are thousands of people doing gun reviews out there. These reviews are from http://www.gunrating.com

The Philosophy of http://www.gunrating.com   is simple. Provide a comprehensive list of reviews from the people who use them.  From that, let the educated consumer make the decision on what firearm is right for them.

I own several Glock pistols. Important to this review is the 2 model 17s. One I have owned for just under 20 years, the other for a little over 5 years.

I appreciate the simplicity of use, and reliability they have shown me.

I enjoy the design that allows it to be fired with a pull of the trigger, but prevents it from firing unless that trigger is pulled.

In terms of accuracy, both my Glock 17s are capable of better groupings than I can shoot. From a rest they produce single large holes at 10 yards, and with care can easily hit plates at 50 yards. Because of the lighter weight polymer frame, the felt recoil is marginally more than in some other full sized service pistols made primarily from steel.

Cleaning and take down for all models of Glock pistols is very easy, possibly the easiest of any semi auto pistol produced.

Reliability is second to none. I own a lot of guns, but the ones I go to for self defense is always one of my Glocks. The older of my two model 17s has been fired well over 50 thousand times, and in that time it has seen so few malfunctions, I can only recall one time, years ago that it failed to feed. Once I stopped using the cheap aftermarket magazine, the failure to feed stopped.

The magazine capacity of 17 was once considered very high. It is no longer the king of the hill there, but 17+1 is still a very respectable capacity.

It is very light for its size. The grip is bigger around than some guns, which is great for some users, but not all users find this a good thing.

The stock sights are nothing to write home about, but they serve well enough. I kept mine stock for a long time, but now days I have night sights on both of them.
